Musa Ibrahim is a Bangladeshi mountaineer and a journalist by profession. He is the first Bangladeshi to reach the summit of Mount Everest. He reached the summit around 5:05am BST on May 23, 2010.
He is the General Secretary of North Alpine Club Bangladesh, a Bangladeshi mountaineering club and also serves as the sub-editor of The Daily Star.
Musa started trekking in 2000 and climbed the highest hill of Bangladesh -- Keocradong -- that time. He then trekked in the Annapurna half circuit and went up to Muktinath from Jomsom. His mountaineering career started in 2004 when he went to Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Darjeeling, India for Basic Mountaineering Training course no. 241. He completed his advanced mountaineering training from HMI on 2005 under course no. 144. Everest climber trainers Nima Norbu, Kusang Dorje Sherpa were his instructors.
Before climbing Everest, Musa Ibrahim did expedition to the mountains of the Himalayas every year from 2005. Started from Mera peak in Nepal, his last endeavour was at Annapurna IV (7525m/24,690ft) to be the first Bangladeshi to conquer a 7000m peak.
